Fly Me Over Yesterday... and Today

Dude. I just read part of this article by Ted Nugent on CNN.Com. I couldn't keep reading.

How could someone possibly claim that this Virginia Tech thing wouldn't have happened if *more* people brought guns to school. Oh my god. I can't believe if live in this country.

Let me quote the harmless deer-killer:


"Thirty-two people dead on a U.S. college campus pursuing their American Dream, mowed-down over an extended period of time by a lone, non-American gunman in illegal possession of a firearm on campus in defiance of a zero-tolerance gun law. Feel better yet? Didn't think so.
Who doesn't get this? Who has the audacity to demand unarmed helplessness? Who likes dead good guys?

I'll tell you who. People who tramp on the Second Amendment, that's who. People who refuse to accept the self-evident truth that free people have the God-given right to keep and bear arms, to defend themselves and their loved ones. People who are so desperate in their drive to control others, so mindless in their denial that they pretend access to gas causes arson, Ryder trucks and fertilizer cause terrorism, water causes drowning, forks and spoons cause obesity, dialing 911 will somehow save your life, and that their greedy clamoring to "feel good" is more important than admitting that armed citizens are much better equipped to stop evil than unarmed, helpless ones."


There are so many things to say about this, but I dont want to repeat what others have been saying for the longest time.

First of all...."God-given right to keep and bear arms". God-given right to keep guns. God gave us this right. At this point, I'm about to pop a blod vessel in my brain. Why would God believe it was a good idea for us to carry guns? I mean, isn't that the most masochistic thing you ever heard? God would do all his magic and create life, then allow his creations to destroy themselves from the inside.


Secondly, just because you have a right to have a gun, it doesn't mean it's a good idea to bring them into high-stress zones like school or a workplace. I mean, I've been given bad news in school (either by a dean or a professor) a couple times and also been fired for what I consider to be an unjust reason. A lot of us have been handed bad news at these places. What's to stop someone from running in their car and shooting the place up? By the way, two hours ago, someone did this very thing in Houston. So, considering that the shooter locked the building's doors, Nugent is suggesting that people should have been allowed to bring their guns to class. That's some fantastic thinking.

Thirdly, WTF?!!

Fourthly, ....ok I'm gonna repeat what people have said before. Damn it, guns make it so easy to kill people. If the shooter walked in there with knives and hammers and chainsaws like in his plays, someone would have tackled him. It's the fact that you can kill people from a distance with the protection of space, that makes a murder spree like this possible. God Damn it, freakin people piss me off. If they got rid of all retail gun sales, it would make it very difficult to shoot people. You'd have to know a guy who knows another guy who can give you a black-market gun. But you have to very much involved to get that crap. Just the involvement in the black market would shy people away from wanting to shoot people.
